Two more court decisions have been made against Kocharyan’s cadre 1in.am
“Robert Kocharyan is my president and he will always be my president”, the author of this statement is Hovhannes Yeritsyan, the former head of the Civil Aviation of Armenia, who held the office during the reign of Robert Kocharyan, the second president of Armenia. Moreover, Yeritsyan assures that Robert Kocharyan himself, personally, asked him to move from Moscow to Armenia to supervise the Armenian civil aviation.
The former official has always been proud of his connections, and mentioning him in the books authored by Artashes Geghamyan. Particularly, he declares that the RF President Vladimir Putin, and former presidents of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh presented him weapons.
Perhaps, thanks to these connections Yeritsyan is still in freedom, though some families have been accusing him of having deprived them of their homes by means of usury and fraud, as well as of threats on deprivation of death.
Ida Melikyan, Gayane Tumasyan, and David Stepanyan claim that Hovhannes Yeritsyan has been engaged in usury for years, has given large sums of money in interest and got them deprived of their real estate by deception. These three people appealed to the relevant bodies separately and reported on crime. Yet, investigation bodies and prosecutors do not want to file an accusation against Kocharyan’s close friends.
Citizens suffered from the actions of the former official applied to the “Veles” anti-corruption NGO in 2014, which filed an appeal to court against the prosecutor’s decisions made in favour of Yeritsyan. The complaints have been lasting for years, as the prosecutor’s office filed a motion to appeal the judicial act passed in favour of the citizen. During the first month of this year, the “Veles” NGO won two more court cases against illegalities of the Prosecutor’s Office.
Related to the case of David Stepanyan, a decision was made to transmit the case to a preliminary investigation. And in regard to the case of Gayane Tumasyan, the Criminal Court of Appeals made a similar decision, and if the Prosecutor’s Office or personally Hovhannes Yeritsyan does not appeal against the decision, a preliminary investigation of the case should be implemented.
It should be noted that in both cases the court considered it confirmed that the preliminary investigation body had not conducted an objective and comprehensive investigation thus violating the rights of Gayane Tumasyan and David Stepanyan. Thirdly, in the case of Ida Melikyan, this year a similar appeal has being examined at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts. Taking into consideration that investigators within all cases related to Yeritsyan have not been conducting an objective investigation, it can be certain that the court will satisfy Ida Melikyan’s appeal, too.
It should be reminded that both in Ida Melikyan’s and David Stepanyan’s cases there are recordings of telephone conversations where the former official is swearing and threatening the citizens, promising that if they will not give the money back, “blood will be (shed)”.
By the way, Hovhannes Yeritsyan does not admit that he is dealing with usury, insisting that he is a respected man, builds churches and gives money to help people. And he considers those who have appealed against him to be “adventurers”.
